Control your solar panels

Control your solar panels

ContrĂ´ler ses panneaux solaires

Do you want to control the proper functioning of solar panels? Here is a tutorial that tells you the checkpoints.

Difficulty: Easy
Time required: 10 minutes
Number of steps: 4
Updated: April 2025

Step 1: Connection of solar panels

  • In order to work safely, please unplug the inverter from the 230V power source, then please unplug your solar panels
  • Disconnect solar panels by pressing MC4 connectors and pulling connectors

Step 2: Visual control

  • Make sure the solar panel is not dirty or damaged. A dirty solar panel can lose up to 15% production.

It is possible for you to clean solar panels with warm water and a soft cloth. Do not use detergent products Do not scratch the surface of the panel so as not to scratch the surface glass.

  • Check that each welding line connecting the cells is perfectly straight.
  • In case of cut-off or deterioration of the solar panel, its production will be more or less impacted.

Step 3: Unladen performance control

  • Position your solar panel in full sun.
  • Using a multimeter, please control the voltage of each solar panel.
  • Configure your multimeter to measure a 200Vdc voltage.
  • Position the terminalVoltyour multimeter on the "+" connector of the solar panel.
  • Position the terminalGndyour multimeter on the " -" connector of the solar panel.
  • In full sun and empty, each solar panel must provide25.6Vdc.

Step 4: Verification of solar panels in charge

  • Replug each solar panel at the inverter and reconnect the inverter to your 230V socket
  • Wait about 3 minutes for starting your inverter.
  • Then launch your AvidsenHome app
  • On the home page of the SORIA kit, press "Device Information"
  • The value "V" corresponds to the voltage supplied by your solar panels. With 2 compliant solar panels, you should have a value greater than 35V
  • The value "Political Current" value corresponds to the intensity produced by your solar panels. This Value will depend on the positioning of your solar panels as well as the light power of the sun.Good exposure should be around 9A.

Example with a poorly connected or faulty solar panel

  • Incorrect photovolta voltage
  • Correct Photovoltaic current

Incorrect or low light intensity exposure

  • Correct Photovoltaic voltage
  • Incorrect photovolta current

It is normal to have these values in autumn as well as winter.
